I discovered Zcash and Free2Z thanks to my dad, and not for a very good reason to say. In 2022 I used Zecwallet, but now I have learned to use Zingo, and I have been in several training activities that he has organized together with the Zcash en Español and Emprendedoras Digitales de Venezuela community.
In case you don't know, in 2022 I had to turn to the great global Zcash community for help: my mom, Marbelis Cadenas, was diagnosed with breast cancer, and in Venezuela, the country where I was born and live 22 years ago, being diagnosed with such a disease is practically a death sentence.
This was the initial campaign that together with my siblings, and with the guidance of my father, we carried out. That campaign was very well received and successful, because it helped us to cover part of the expenses that my mother's illness meant in 2022.
Fortunately my mom came out of her treatment and operation well, something for which my siblings and I will always be grateful to this beautiful community, and thus, the campaign closed.
But the universe sometimes has trials and challenges in store for us, and one of our most dreaded fears has resurfaced.
A new campaign for Marbelis, my mom
After her operation and treatment in 2022, my mom spent a full 2023 recovering from her normal activities: her hair grew back, she regained some lost pounds, and slowly got back to normal. Although for a cancer survivor the word "normalcy" is sometimes fuzzy.
My mom now has to have regular check-ups, follow a more or less strict diet and be very attentive to her body and her breasts, an area affected by the cancer.
During her routine check-ups, in December 2023, my mother began to feel a new discomfort in her left breast, the same one that was operated on and treated with readiotherapy. She began to feel an abnormal hardness in the breast.
She went to her doctor, the same one who operated on her, and the doctor's answer was that this was "nothing to worry about", that it was probably "hardened tissue due to scarring".
Days went by... the discomfort continued... and turned into pain. The pain spread to the left arm. The nerves started...
My mother decided to go for a second opinion, an ultrasound examination was performed, and a shadow was detected, very small, but it was not "scar tissue hardened by scarring", but a new mass, a new tumor, just behind where the previous one had been.
The questions begin
What do we do, where do we go, do we have to go through the process of invasive examinations, expensive and difficult to obtain treatments, and the uncertainty: Are we going to win the race against cancer?
Because in Venezuela, cancer and most chronic diseases are just that: a race against time, a countdown to the unknown.
The truth of the matter is that these first 3 months of 2024 have been of anguish and stress, of new tests, to determine if there is metastasis, how far this new tumor has progressed, and what the cost of the new treatment will be.
That is why again, saddened, but optimistic and grateful for your receptivity, I come to you, to help us in this new fundraising campaign that we have decided to call The 2nd fight of Marbelis.
The approximate costs of tests and treatment (radiotherapy and chemotherapy) amount to 10,000 US$, and obviously, neither my mother, nor my siblings, nor I, have the resources to pay for all this. That is why I am appealing to you, to ask for your valuable, appreciated and disinterested collaboration. Any contribution you can make is very important to begin to cover these costs.

I will be updating you and informing you about the results of the tests and medical decisions that are made. I will also share here and in a totally transparent way the donations received.
It is important to note that, as we did last time, we are in an early diagnosis, and there is enough range of action to proceed and win the race, but everything will depend on having timely economic resources.
Thank you, Zcashers! God bless each one of you. I know that together we will win this new fight for my mom.
Below I share with you the first tests performed, as well as some preliminary medical reports.
