7th Meetup Club Zcash Querétaro - México.
On August 2, 2026, we held the 7th meetup of the Club Zcash in Querétaro, Mexico.
In this meeting, we discussed "Wealth in Mexico 2026: Why Real Estate Dominates," a study by Aureo Bitcoin.
This study reveals important data, such as the fact that 45.6% of Mexican workers participate in the formal economy, producing 74.6% of the GDP, while the informal economy employs 54.4% of workers, producing 25.4% of the GDP.
Another interesting finding is that Mexicans' investments in bonds, retirement savings, deposits, and other assets represent only 68% of GDP, while investments in real estate represent between 180% and 200% of GDP.
This trend stems from Mexicans' distrust of their currency. This distrust is partly due to catastrophic events like the "El error de diciembre" where the Mexican peso suffered greatly due to decisions by the Central Bank, leading people to seek refuge in dollars, while those who couldn't afford dollars opted for real estate.

The meeting lasted three hours, and the members of the Zcash Querétaro Club actively participated. There were eight of us in total. This topic is relevant to Zcash because it explains the trend among Mexicans to invest in real estate, while financial assets like bonds and stocks take a back seat. This has a significant impact on the adoption of cryptocurrencies like Zcash/ZEC and demonstrates the importance of diversification.
We also provided an update on the Orchard-Ironwood migration process and clarified some questions about private pools.
Finally, we held a trivia game on Telegram about the day's topic. It was a very exciting and fun experience. Everyone loved it, and we gave $10 USD in ZEC to the winner. We also had drinks and snacks.
