Yesterday, Sunday, July 6th, 2025, we proudly hosted the maiden X Space of Zcash Ghana, a bold step towards driving blockchain education and financial privacy across Ghana and Africa.
The topic was:
“Financial Privacy & the Power of Zcash – Why It Matters for Africa”
Like any new beginning, we faced challenges — the space logged out twice due to the overwhelming number of participants tuning in.
But we pushed through. And in the end, we had 212 amazing participants who stayed with us, showing true resilience and community spirit. 🙌
🚀 Opening the Space
Ogasky (our host and Zcash Ghana Team Lead) welcomed everyone and thanked them for their patience and dedication.
He reassured the audience that the technical challenges would be fully addressed going forward.
Ogasky introduced the mission of Zcash Ghana — to educate Ghanaians about the Zcash blockchain, onboard developers, businesses, and crypto enthusiasts, and grow a strong local privacy-focused community.
🎙️ Key Contributions from Our Speakers
🔹 Blcvkman
He took us deep into the history of Zcash, explaining its core privacy feature: shielded transactions.
He stressed the risks of transparent transactions and how shielded transactions can protect Ghanaians from financial tracking, fraud, and harassment.
Blcvkman introduced the two wallet types:
t-addresses (transparent wallets)
z-addresses (shielded wallets)
He passionately called on the Ghanaian crypto and web3 community to actively support Zcash Ghana.
🔹 Kroy
Kroy provided a detailed explanation of ZK-SNARKS — the cryptography behind Zcash’s privacy.
He also introduced ZecHub, the open-source learning and task platform where anyone can contribute to the Zcash ecosystem and earn rewards in ZEC.
He emphasized that Zcash is open to everyone — whether you are a developer, writer, designer, trader, or event organizer.
Kroy encouraged participants to explore the ZecHub platform via zechub.wiki and to check out the Zcash Global Ambassador Program.
💬 Engaging Audience Questions
Hakeem raised a thoughtful question:
Why was the discussion centered on development but not Zcash as an investment?
Why is the Zcash Ghana lead based in Nigeria?
In response, Ogasky explained that he actively works between Nigeria and Ghana, has family and business roots in Ghana, and has organized blockchain events in Accra.
He emphasized that Zcash Ghana will encourage local projects and investment opportunities where developers can build startups around Zcash, creating potential for investors at all growth stages.
Stanley, a participant from Nigeria, asked about available Zcash support platforms.
Kroy provided direction to the Zcash Discord, the Zcash website, and the ZecHub channels as reliable places to seek support and resources.
📢 Closing Call
Ogasky invited everyone to take a screenshot of their participation and tweet about the event using @ZcashGH to help spread awareness.
He also made a call for volunteers to join the Zcash Ghana movement and contribute to the growing community.
