Zcash NU7 is the next network upgrade, set to activate on mainnet at block 3,543,405 (expected around November 5-6, 2026). Here is a short, plain-language summary for everyday users.

Speed. Blocks arrive every 25 seconds instead of 75, so the first confirmation comes about three times faster. That helps point-of-sale payments, exchange deposits and cross-chain swaps.
Lighter wallet sync. New limits on shielded actions per block cut the worst-case sync bandwidth a spammer can force on light wallets by about 37 percent, while Ironwood throughput more than doubles.
Sustainability. Sixty percent of transaction fees are removed from circulation and slowly reissued through the Network Sustainability Mechanism. The four-year halving schedule stays.
Cleanup. Version 4 transactions end, so funds left in the old Sprout pool become unspendable. Move them before activation.
What to do: keep your wallet updated, and keep it shielded.
