My own linux distribution! ✨
Hello, again, after some time off, and vacations, I'm back on free2z.
Greetings to all who read me and really nice to be here again.
But well.... what you came for!
Recently, I was with some friends, having a conversation, and the topic of linux came up, a topic, quite controversial for some, and loved by many (me included).
Within that “discussion” we were talking about the different flaws we saw in distributions we frequently used that could be improved...
We are all linux users in that group of friends, most use Linux mint with XFCE for its ease of use, but others like a friend and myself, use Arch linux, for the immense control and endlessness you can do on it. I personally keep using Windows, and Arch at the same time, in Multi Boot, because for work or leisure reasons, I have software, that currently linux, neither using wine nor any add-on, is able to run, something that really causes me disgust.
I am a Linux fanatic, I love that it is open, and that I can do what I want with it. Perzonalize it, and everything, but honestly there are several things in different distributions that I've tried that honestly don't convince me.
But what if I make my own distribution? 🤨
I thought so... I was talking to a friend some time after we had that conversation... we were talking about the same thing. He was working on his own distribution called DaTekMo and I found it quite curious.
I honestly have no idea where to think, or rather I had no idea.
While we were talking about how life treats us the subject of his distribution came up, and remembering what we had talked about at that time, I decided to ask him...
Lately I've been interested in making a Linux distro of my own.
But to be honest with you

What to base it on
No idea
I'm asking you because I consider that you have a lot of experience, and something like datekmo
What do you suggest? Where do I start?
And after discussing one or another topic, about how I could start, we started to create ideas and to talk about several topics related also to a distribution, light but powerful, and that also would be to my taste... Aesthetic, and clean.
That's how between two people talking... Archinton linux was born.
Archinton... A distribution to my taste 🖥️
The name was born from “Macintosh” and “Arch linux”, in that conversation we were talking about this distribution, about useless and ridiculous things about MacOs, and we remembered the work that Steve Jobs did to boost the macintosh project, taking something small to make it big. The original Macintosh, however, wasn't very successful, so we decided to combine that effort behind the Macintosh project, with the name of the most versatile linux distribution in our opinion *Arch Linux and that's how Archintosh comes to light....

You read it, and I wrote it down.
Yes! Archintosh 🔥
Well, we weren't the first to realize that the name didn't fit, we were discussing the name on a public Discord server, and one user before we had a say said Sounds like apple is trying to make their linux distro to put their horrible infrastructure into something as free as linux.
And so we decided to just change that “Tosh” to “Ton” and that's how the name Archinton was born, which I love and probably you love too.
But are they simple words? 🎑
Well, you might think so, and even I thought so myself. But after a while, talking to that friend we came up with something that might work out. Talking with that same friend we decided that the easiest thing to do would be to start based on a distribution called Mx-Linux.
The first presumed version of Archinton would be, a lightened version of MX Linux, perzonalized, lightened, removing unnecessary packages.
We would also add a perzonalization, to add a lot to the aesthetics.
Make it easy to use.
And we also think about putting a custom kernel like Xanmod or Linux-clear.
And generate an iso that you can install with its snapshot iso...
That would be just to start, and have a distribution that people can like, that they can install easily, without so much complication, and have an easy to use operating system, with things that we consider that a distribution should bring and should be.
That's just to start, and move forward over time, and see what comes out of that.....
I really hope that you can realize this project and have a distribution, that you can share with the world, and that is easy to use.
As I said, I'm really new to this whole “creating distributions” thing so to speak. So I could really use some help from people who really know.
