¡Lo logramos!

Luego de nuestra campaña inicial para recaudar fondos para los afectados por las lluvias en Tejerías, y la gran receptividad de los Zcashers, ¡lo hemos hecho posible!

Ayudamos a 4 familias de esa localidad, al donarles sendos mercados familiares, como decimos en Venezuela, “bien resueltos”.

No les puedo describir la sensación y la emoción que sentimos al realizar la compra, ordenar y embolsar cuidadosamente los productos, y luego hacer las entregas, abrazar a los beneficiados y escuchar sus palabras.

¡Pero comencemos por el principio!

Les contaré aquí cómo fue el proceso de compra y entrega de la donación que gustosa y cariñosamente hicimos Aura Brito y yo con el apoyo de todos ustedes:

Primero que nada, yo pasé el dinero de mi billetera Ywallet a Binance, para poder convertir los fondos a USDT y evitar pérdida de valor por las fluctuaciones locas que ahorita tiene el mercado, ustedes saben.

Ya con el dinero en USDT, nos dirigimos al Forum, una reconocida cadena de supermercados del país y que también está en mi localidad, San Antonio de los Altos. Como anécdota, les cuento que no estaba en los planes salir el 24 de diciembre a hacer compras, porque en lo personal, trato de evitar las aglomeraciones de personas típicas de estos días, pero la verdad es que estábamos emocionados con el detalle de apoyar y regalarle una buena noticia a completos desconocidos que de verdad se merecieran la donación.

Aprovechamos que en dicha cadena de supermercados dan descuentos por volumen, lo cual nos permitió obtener más productos. De hecho, el mercado entregado a cada familia constó de 24 productos de cesta básica y víveres, productos de calidad y de buenas marcas. No quisimos comprar lo más barato, ¡al contrario! Pensamos que la gente se merece calidad, aunque la comida sea donada.

Ya en casa con los productos comprados, (nos tuvimos que mover en taxi (por el volumen y peso de productos) comenzamos con el proceso de clasificación y empaque de los mercados.

Un dato para las personas que lean esto y que no sean de Venezuela: días antes de hacer las compras, personalmente me dirigí a 2 lugares en los que había centros de acopio aquí en mi localidad, pero ya los mismos no estaban funcionando. La verdad es que el tema de Las Tejerías en nuestro país, como muchos, se politizó. El gobierno nacional fue, limpió 2 calles, se tomó la foto con 3 personas, ¡y listo! Otro tema olvidado.

La verdad es que muchas familias de Las Tejerías siguen en condiciones precarias.

Algunas personas me dijeron que no dejara las donaciones en los centros de acopio, porque en los mismos se estaban robando lo donado, y dejando lo peor o de baja calidad para los afectados. Me recomendaron que fuera personalmente al lugar, a las Tejerías, y fuera a algunas casas a llevar la donación.

Hice mis averiguaciones para ir en taxi a Tejerías (ya que no tengo vehículo), y la verdad es que nos salía muy costoso ir y venir. Si lo hacía así, en taxi, iba a gastar mucho en transporte y menos en comida, perdiendo parte de lo recaudado solo en el traslado al sitio.

Pensando en opciones y preguntando a uno de los vigilantes que trabajan en mi urbanización, ellos me indicaron: “nosotros sabemos lo que pasa en Tejerías porque vivimos allá”. Así que se me ocurrió: ¿Y por qué no donarle a las personas que son de Tejerías que trabajan en mi urbanización? Así que averigüé con la administración si de verdad eran de Tejerías los empleados, y efectivamente, muchos son de esa localidad.

Así que sin más, aleatoriamente escogimos a 4 personas, de las que sabemos que son bastante humildes y que siempre están trabajando horas extras para poder solventar el tema alimentario de sus hogares.

Los beneficiados, que verán en las fotos, fueron personal de vigilancia y limpieza. Gente afectada por las lluvias en Tejerías, pero que no han dejado de cumplir con sus trabajos, precisamente porque perdieron muebles, parte de sus casas, comida, etc. Incluso, una de las chicas beneficiadas, que está embarazada, perdió su casa por las lluvias y está en una vivienda temporal (Hasta pensé en organizar una campaña para que ella pueda comprar una nueva casa, ¡hay tanta gente que necesita ayuda!).

A las personas que les entregamos la donación les expliqué: yo formo parte de la comunidad de Zcash de Venezuela. Zcash es una criptomoneda, que permite el manejo de dinero de forma privada y segura, sin necesidad del uso de bancos. Nos organizamos para recaudar fondos y donarles alimentos. Esta donación no es mía, es de parte de todos los que se solidarizaron, apoyaron y donaron.

Algunos de sus testimonios y palabras de agradecimiento, que quiero compartir con ustedes, fueron:

La verdad es que se me arruga el corazón cuando recuerdo las palabras y la alegría de las personas que recibieron los alimentos. Es indescriptible la emoción y la alegría que se siente al ayudar a alguien así, de manera desinteresada. El que da bendiciones recibe bendiciones. Es ley de vida.

Sin más, no me queda más que agradecer a la comunidad de Zcash en Español, quienes fueron los que, en una conversación, sugirieron que se hiciera una campaña para Tejerías. ¡Y aquí está el resultado! Se ayudó a 4 familias. Puede parecernos poco, ¡pero es muchísimo para esa gente!

Y aprovecho para confesarles que gracias a lo bonito que se siente ayudar y ver la alegría de la gente que no se lo espera, que a partir del año próximo organizaré una recaudación de fondos de fin de año para hacer lo mismo, y llevarle alegría y esperanza a personas de pocos recursos que muchas veces, para estas fechas, no tiene fondos para una buena cena de Navidad o fin de año. Sé que contaré con todos ustedes para llevarla a cabo.

We did it!

After our initial campaign to raise funds for those affected by the rains in Tejerías, and the great receptivity of the Zcashers, we have made it possible! We helped 4 families in that town by donating family markets, as we say in Venezuela.

I can't describe the sensation and the emotion we felt when we made the purchase, carefully sorted and bagged the products, and then made the deliveries, hugged the beneficiaries and listened to their words.

But let's start at the beginning!

I will tell you here how was the process of purchasing and delivering the donation that we Aura Brito and I gladly and lovingly made with the support of all of you:

First of all, I moved the money from my **Ywallet to Binance, in order to be able to convert the funds to USDT and avoid loss of value due to the crazy fluctuations that the market has right now, you know.

With the money in USDT, we went to Forum, a well-known supermarket chain in the country, which is also in my town, San Antonio de los Altos. As an anecdote, I tell you that it was not in the plans to go out on December 24 to shop, because personally, I try to avoid the crowds of people typical of these days, but the truth is that we were excited with the details of supporting and giving good news to complete strangers who really deserved the donation.

We took advantage of the fact that in this supermarket chain they give volume discounts, which allowed us to get more products. In fact, the market delivered to each family consisted of 24 basic basket products and groceries, quality products and good brands. We did not want to buy the cheapest, on the contrary! We think that people deserve quality, even if the food is donated.

Already at home with the purchased products, (we had to move by cab (because of the volume and weight of products) we started with the process of sorting and packing the markets.

A piece of information for those who read this and are not from Venezuela: days before making the purchases, I personally went to 2 places where there were collection centers here in my town, but they were no longer operating. The truth is that the issue of Las Tejerías in our country, like many, became politicized. The national government went, cleaned 2 streets, took a picture with 3 people, and that's it! Another forgotten issue.

The truth is that many families in Las Tejerías are still in precarious conditions.

Some people told me not to leave the donations in the collection centers, because they were stealing what was donated, and leaving the worst or low quality for those affected. **They recommended me to go personally to the place, to Las Tejerías, and to go to some houses to take the donation.

I made my inquiries to go by cab to Tejerías (since I do not have a vehicle), and the truth is that it was very expensive to go and come. If I did it this way, by cab, I was going to spend a lot on transportation and less on food, losing part of the proceeds just to get to the site.

Thinking about options and asking one of the security guards who work in my urbanization, they told me: "we know what happens in Tejerías because we live there". So it occurred to me: Why not donate to the people from Tejerías who work in my urbanization? So I checked with the administration to see if the employees were really from Tejerías, and indeed, many of them are from that town.

So without further ado, we randomly chose 4 people, of whom we know that they are quite humble and are always working overtime to be able to pay for food for their homes.

The beneficiaries, as you can see in the photos, were security and cleaning personnel. People affected by the rains in Tejerías, but who have not stopped doing their jobs, precisely because they lost furniture, part of their homes, food, etc. Even, one of the beneficiary girls, who is pregnant, lost her house because of the rains and is in temporary housing (I even thought of organizing a campaign so she can buy a new house, there are so many people who need help!).

To the people we gave the donation I explained: I am part of the Venezuelan Zcash community. Zcash is a cryptocurrency, which allows the handling of money in a private and secure way, without the use of banks. We organized ourselves to raise funds and donate food to them. This donation is not mine, it is on behalf of all those who showed solidarity, supported and donated.

The truth is that my heart wrinkles when I remember the words and the joy of the people who received the food. It is indescribable the emotion and joy that one feels when helping someone like that, in a selfless way. He who gives blessings receives blessings. It is a law of life.

Without further ado, I can only thank the Zcash en Español community, who were the ones who, in a conversation, suggested a campaign for Tejerías. And here is the result! 4 families were helped. It may not seem like a lot, but it is a lot for those people!

And I take this opportunity to confess that thanks to how nice it feels to help and see the joy of people who do not expect it, that starting next year I will organize an end of the year fundraiser to do the same, and bring joy and hope to people with few resources that often, at this time, do not have funds for a good Christmas or New Year's Eve dinner. I know that I will count on all of you to carry it out.
