The week is over, and with it, this wonderful experience of Camp Digital - Generation Z. We had a very emotional day, with mixed emotions, surprised parents, awarded participants, and an overall spirit of satisfaction.
Mission accomplished!
I'll tell you a little bit about the day.
On Thursday, unfortunately, we had blackouts and power failures in several Venezuelan cities and parts of Caracas, and we were affected. So we had to move Thursday's class to Friday, but with a good attitude and commitment we always achieve our goals!
On Friday we closed with training on video editing, where the young participants put into practice what they had been taught: they made scripts, recorded several videos with different techniques seen in class. We thank Carla Zerpa for sharing her vast experience on the subject.
After this, we invited the parents and representatives of the children to join us for the closing of the Camp.
From among the 40 participants, the 5 who had accumulated the most points during the week presented their projects before a jury, the facilitators, and their parents. They talked about what they learned about Zcash and crypto wallets, what they want to do with their projects, and what they would like to do in the near future with all this technology.
Of these 5, we gave physical prizes to the 3 that stood out the most in their projects and presentations, and the last places were also awarded with vocational counseling that will serve them for their imminent university future.
We gave certificates of participation to all attendees, parents gave some emotional words and told us things like: “my son only talks about Zcash, Bitcoin and what Aura, Roosevelt and the Camp facilitators taught them”.
For us, the mission is accomplished: we sowed the seed, not only in young people, but also in families, in those homes where they will now talk about digital economy, monetization options and digital income not regulated by any bank or government.
We were exhausted, but happy with all the words of thanks we received from the participants and their parents. Even some parents asked us to do this in universities, because the truth is that there is no one in Venezuela teaching this the way we teach it, let alone anyone talking about Zcash and privacy!
That is why we also believe that with the approval of the Grant for the Zcash Community in Spanish we will be able to do more things to continue making Zcash reach more people.
Without further ado, thanks to the global Zcash community for being attentive to everything that happened during the week with this Digital Camp. Thanks to ZecHub and ZCG for their support.
I would also like to thank Angel Nieves and his team, who supported us throughout the week in the dynamics and games that activated the neurons of the kids. And to Scarle Ramos too, who was always behind the important logistical details while Aura and I were in the sessions with the youth.
Special mention to the Asociación Civil Grupo Alpha, for being our allies and also supporting us in this edition of the Camp (who by the way showed interest in knowing how they can use Zcash to obtain donations for their non-profit association, a complicated issue in Venezuela). We want to do more editions and impact more young people!
In the coming days we will make a technical report, to see and analyze with real numbers all the scope of this powerful activity.
