We have reached our 4th Meetup, and we are very happy!

This event took place on October 15, 2025, as a side event of the European Blockchain Convention. It was an incredible opportunity to raise awareness about Zcash, talk about privacy, and clarify some of the many questions surrounding Zcash, given the hype generated by the increase in the price of ZEC.

It is important to mention the support we received from the EBC, who helped us promote our meetup on their social media and calendar, which undoubtedly helped us reach more people.

This Meetup was originally designed for 30 people, and we had to create a waiting list and increase the capacity of the room, as many people were interested in attending. These days, Barcelona is full of crypto enthusiasts due to the large number of events taking place. We had a total of 64 registrants and 30 people on the waiting list.

During the activity, we discussed the benefits and advantages of using Zcash as a means of payment for brands and businesses. We did not talk about investment or trading, as that is not our goal. Many people asked us questions such as: “What is Zk Proof technology?”, “Is Zcash really private?”, “How difficult is it to use a wallet?”, “Are transactions fast?”

We also took the opportunity to do some live tests with Zashi with some of the members who were willing to open their wallets and share their addresses. We will have to do a new Zashi workshop at future Meetups.

Some of the people expressed their intention to maintain privacy, so we only took a few specific photos with the people who allowed us to do so.

Lessons learned from this Meetup:

Attending events organized by other communities and projects is important for Zcash. In the three weeks leading up to the Meetup with Aura, we attended several events organized by other communities, and during networking, we took the opportunity to invite them to ours. This helped us.

The support we received from the EBC was also crucial. Yes, we know that it is not an event focused on privacy or cypherpunks, but it is a massive event where, with the right presence, you can reach new users. Many people discovered Zcash at our Meetup and at the EBC (I will post videos on my YouTube channel).

One person asked me directly to contact the Zcash Foundation, as they were interested in making a proposal or agreement.

And several people were surprised when we told them about the ZCG and the grant program for development within Zcash. Some were interested. What will come of it? I don't know, but it's more than would come of doing nothing.

In addition to this, we did some activities and games with the participants, and gave away some beautiful T-shirts and stickers, which were purchased with donations we received from the community.

We also had delicious cookies as snacks for the attendees. These cookies were made with impeccable quality by our entrepreneurial friends at @isaelegantbakes, who also use Zashi and already charge for their services in ZEC here in Barcelona.

Thank you for your support! We are very happy with the receptivity that Zcash is gradually gaining in Spain, and we are optimistic about the future. More and more people are concerned about their privacy. Awareness is growing, and we must continue to promote adoption.

Privacy is normal. See you at the next Meetup!

As an anecdote, I should mention that although Club Zcash Barcelona organizes its events in Spanish, the first people who arrived only spoke English, so I was forced to speak English throughout the entire Meetup. So, in addition to teaching about Zcash, I continue to practice my English... 😅
