We have a few modes of interactive livestreams on Free2Z. You can broadcast to the public, broadcast just to your subscribers, and create PPV livestreams.
In these existing modes, anyone can join as long as they meet the criteria:
- Broadcast: anyone with a web browser can join anonymously, for free without logging in
- Subscribers-only: anyone who is logged into Free2Z and subscribed to you can join
- PPV: logged in with 2Zs to pay for the stream
We have discovered a vast array of use cases that are not covered by these existing modes, namely, private meetings. Today we added this option:
- Private: only people who have your secret link can join
How does it work?
To start a livestream, you need to be logged into Free2Z and have at least 150 2Zs. From there it's really easy:
💡 Note that at time of writing these calls are not end-to-end encrypted (E2EE). We expect to announce E2EE within the next week or two. Also, a little secret, we're not charging a platform fee for these new private calls. We plan to keep them free for at least the first few weeks to let people try them. In the near future, $0.30 per hour will likely be a fair market price. Remember: Free2Z doesn't have a surveillance business model. Any revenue we have is from providing services directly, not by selling your data or showing you ads.
Secret URL
After clicking "start stream," you are redirected to a page to configure the call, check your hair, turn off your camera or microphone, optionally change your audio and video configuration.
At this point you are at the secret URL that you can send to people to join. For convenience, this link is also copied to your clipboard so you can send it to someone.
Note: every time you click "start stream" for a private call a new secret link will be generated. You will only have one secret link active at a time and the old link becomes invalid when you create a new one.
