Hello Free2z Users,
We've got some exciting news in the world of image handling. In an effort to improve your experience, we've made a significant update to the way Free2z handles images, particularly focusing on speed and efficiency.
What's New?
WebP Conversion for Public Images
All public images uploaded to Free2z are now automatically converted to the WebP format. This modern format is known for its efficient compression, offering significantly reduced file sizes – often just 1/25th of the original – without a noticeable drop in image quality.
Original Images Remain Intact
While embracing this new technology, we ensure your original images are still available, stored securely and without metadata, in line with our commitment to privacy.
Easy Access to Both Formats
You now have the flexibility to use either format. Want to switch to the WebP version of your uploaded image? Simply change the file extension to .webp. It's straightforward and user-friendly.
Faster Load Times, Smoother Browsing
The shift to WebP means you can expect a noticeable improvement in page loading times. This enhances the overall user experience, making browsing and image loading much quicker.
Private and Subscriber-Only Content Unchanged
This update applies exclusively to public images. Your private and subscriber-only uploads will remain in their original format.
We believe this change strikes the right balance between maintaining the high-quality imagery you expect and enhancing the overall speed of our platform. We're excited for you to experience the benefits of this update and look forward to your feedback.
Happy uploading!
