Why Now:
Things have changed since you called home on a landline to check in. We no longer only interact with people around us but around the world. We don't use phones to call each other daily and have moved our communications online. As many of us live alone and live longer alone. Many of us travel often alone. Many of us have elderly family members or kids away at school.
**The Need:
**We've found we need a way to easily and simply check-in with each other daily and have the opportunity for faster response times when something happens good or bad.
Pain Point / Personal Reasons
I live alone and almost 90% of my work is with people around the work online. If something happened to me it might be weeks before someone showed up in person to check on me. With SENDaBEACON after 2-3 days of me lot replying someone could come to check on my pets.
NON-Goal: WHAT WE DONT WANT
The goal is NOT a real-time or emergency option where a random person at a switchboard calls you every day.
We do NOT want a facebook style, twitter or communications app. This is simply a tool to prompt the needed communications.
GOALS: WE DO WANT TO BE
Instead, this is a family, friend, and small group caring and accountability tool.
Optionally the group admin can allow x numbers of posts per daily per member (Default 1)
Simple to the point, NOT Time drains (<3mins a day)
**SOLUTION: **
SENDaBEACON was created to simply meet that need.
An invite-only set of groups for family, friends, and/or co-workers.
Each day you Send a Beacon to the group saying I'm Good/I'm not good(but alive). You can also post an option message and the other group members can respond with 1 of 5 simple emotes. No comments, all private to the group.
One of our goals is to limit the time, distractions, and interactions for the app. As Facebook and other platforms become more and more overwhelming this is a simple way to send a beacon to your friends, family, and/or co-workers everything is ok, or send a message it's not ok.
If someone doesn't Beacon-in for a day you can Send a Beacon to them to check on them or contact them with IRL means.
