Most of what corpora has built this fall is one product: AMP, Adaptive Math Pathways, a math practice app for families at amp.corpora.inc. Today it also got a new kind of video.
All of 3rd grade math, as a speedrun
Coach Champ, a cheetah track coach, runs through everything a 3rd grader learns in math in under 13 minutes: multiplication and division, place value and rounding, fractions on the number line, time and measurement, area and perimeter, plus the extras Georgia, Florida and Texas add. Each skill gets its intuition, its method and the classic mistake to watch for.
It is built to be paused. There is a chapter for every skill and a one-page summary of the whole year at the end.
This format is new for us, and we want to know whether it works. Tell us in the comments here, and vote on the channel for the grade Champ runs next.
What AMP does
AMP gives a learner one problem at a time and decides what comes next.
- It finds the frontier. It starts from the learner's age, checks what they already know, moves up quickly where they are solid and goes back to fill gaps. It tracks each strand of math separately and brings earlier problems back on a spaced schedule.
- 1,151 problem types, from counting through Algebra 2, Precalculus and the SAT, aligned to Common Core and to state standards including Florida B.E.S.T., Texas TEKS and STAAR, Massachusetts MCAS and the New York Regents.
- A plain-language lesson for every problem type, offered when a learner is stuck. A learner who keeps getting it right never has to open one.
- Tap any math word for a short definition card.
- Printable workbooks made for one learner at their exact level. Results entered from paper count as practice in the app.
- Grade labels are hidden by default. A child sees what they can do next, not which grade it belongs to.
Try it
The first 100 problems are free, with no account. After that AMP is $49 a month or $499 a year, with a full refund within 30 days.
New videos go up on YouTube @corporainc: short explanations, homeschool sessions, and more speedruns if you want them.
