Last week the hack group ShinyHunters accessed more than 2T in data from the FBIjobs website and demanding retraction from the government agency. According to the group, the FBI have publicly shared misinformation about them and they needed them to clarify it. Today, the cybernews X page share a news that ShinyHunters won't share the data online and that they never intended to and that was just a marketing campaign for them.

In the revelation Cybernews tells the public that ShinyHunters won't share the FBIjobs data and they didn't have a deadline imposed on it. All what they wanted was just to let the FBI to retract themselves and tell the public that the group isn't what they mention on their report. In fact all what they did was a marketing campaign for their business.

The problem with that statement is that they forgot to tell the FBI as the government agency came public to acknowledge the incident and promised to solve it using all necessary means**. If was a marketing campaign for their business, ShinyHunters is already in deep problem as the FBI isn't taking that lightly and will definitely hunt them down.

Even if ShinyHunters did not plan to release the data to the public a crime was committed and they should be held responsible. If the FBI treat that lightly it means that other groups with a much dangerous agenda can do the same and get unpunished. I believe that the FBI won't let this go unpunished and in the future we'll have some people arrested connected with the case. There's more healthy ways to make marketing campaigns not playing with people data.
