We are living in a world where freedom of expression is under constant attack, manipulated by the state, and coercive abuse by authorities is becoming the norm. The grip of those who control the world tightens daily, leaving little room for true freedom.
A striking example of this is the case of Binance employee, Tigran Gambaryan, currently imprisoned in Nigeria, accused of a crime he never committed. Tigran’s only misfortune was being in the wrong place at the wrong time, caught in the crossfire of a standoff between Binance and the Nigerian government.
Tigran’s arrest stems from a dispute where the Nigerian government demanded $10 billion from Binance, claiming the exchange actively contributed to the devaluation of the Naira by allowing Nigerians to trade dollars against their national currency. Since Binance refused to meet this absurd demand, the Nigerian authorities took their frustration out on Tigran, detaining him as a scapegoat. There’s no law justifying his imprisonment, yet he remains locked up, without medical care, living in deplorable conditions as a prisoner.
On the other hand, the United States played a different game. They managed to summon Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the former CEO of Binance, and with their superior leverage, secured $4 billion. Even after that, they jailed CZ to assert their dominance. It’s not just about the money; it’s about control.
And it’s not just Tigran. Another clear attack on privacy happened recently with Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, who was arrested in France. His crime? Simply creating a messaging platform. The French government accused him of complicity in all crimes committed on Telegram, merely because he refused to hand over private user data, which the authorities wanted to use for their surveillance purposes.
These are not isolated incidents; they represent a growing pattern. The privacy of individuals is under threat, and government manipulation is real. The world has changed, but governments resist that change. Or maybe, they just can’t. After all, they are the government, and control is their ultimate goal.
The fight for privacy and freedom is ongoing, but the question remains: How much longer can we hold on before every aspect of our lives is controlled and monitored by those in power?
