The crypto world is buzzing once again, and this time, it's all about FTX. Claims have been flying around that repayments from the collapsed exchange were scheduled for this past Monday, setting social media on fire, especially on X (formerly Twitter). However, these rumors are far from the truth. No FTX repayments were made on September 30, and those waiting for their funds will have to hold out a bit longer. The real date everyone should be focusing on is October 7, when a crucial court hearing on the restructuring plan will take place.

If the court approves the plan during this October 7 hearing, there's a silver lining for some of the smaller claimants. Those owed less than $50,000 could see their repayments before the end of the year. On the other hand, larger claimants—those owed more than $50,000—might not see their funds until mid-2025. So, if you're in the queue for your FTX repayment, the clock is still ticking, and patience is key.

The frenzy started when someone on X decided to stir the pot, claiming they had already received their repayment and were about to invest it all in Bitcoin. This sparked a wave of excitement, with many believing the money would flood into Bitcoin, giving the market a significant boost. But, as with many things in crypto, this turned out to be nothing more than a rumor. No repayments have been made yet, and until the October 7 hearing concludes, it’s all just speculation.

The excitement around these repayments isn’t just about getting back what was lost. Many in the community are optimistic that once the funds start flowing, a good chunk of that money will find its way into Bitcoin. This belief has sparked hope that Bitcoin’s price could see a positive boost as former FTX customers re-invest in the leading cryptocurrency. But for now, all we can do is wait and see.

For those who aren’t familiar, FTX was once one of the most popular cryptocurrency exchanges, headed by Sam Bankman-Fried (or SBF, as he’s known in the crypto world). However, things came crashing down when it was revealed that SBF had been misusing customer funds for personal gain. Over $7 billion of customer money disappeared, and the fallout led to FTX’s bankruptcy. SBF, now behind bars, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his actions, spending his future in a cell, paying the price for his greed.

So, while the excitement is understandable, it’s crucial to remember that any talk of repayments before the court ruling is just gossip. The future of these repayments—and their potential impact on the crypto market—remains uncertain until the legal dust settles. But as always in the crypto world, patience is a virtue.
