Trump and Elon, in their debate/interview, spoke about many topics but didn't touch on Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies, and that was the reason to see investors getting rid of some of the MAGA memecoins that they HODL. That was to show their disgust about the fact, but why didn't they talk about Bitcoin?
It's difficult to answer this question, as Trump is using a Bitcoin approach to gain supporters, and people who attended the X spaces were eagerly waiting to hear something about the topic. Unfortunately, neither Trump nor Elon mentioned Bitcoin in their 2-plus hours of talking, and that opened some doubts about Trump's real intentions in the market. Is he just taking the Bitcoin approach to gather sympathy from the voters who appreciate the ecosystem? Was that a strategy to just speak about topics concerning the US and worldwide issues?
It's unclear why Trump didn't mention Bitcoin, and for a guy who tells himself that he's the "Bitcoin president," something fishy is happening. Rumors on X, when Trump attended the Nashville Bitcoin conference, suggested that the candidate was paid to speak about Bitcoin, but again no proof was found in that direction.
The fact is that in the conference, Trump got more than 20 million worth of Bitcoin in donations (paid individual meetings) to help in his campaign, but in the most important interview in the space where he had space and time to speak about Bitcoin and what he plans to do to maintain the asset in the American economy when he reaches the Oval Office, he didn't mention even once the name "Bitcoin."
That is worrying and very strange from Trump, and if he doesn't speak up about this, he will see his popularity in the ecosystem reduce and open up people to question how real Trump's approach to crypto is. The same way the market is volatile, people will move on to other things. If he is in fact the "Bitcoin President," why didn't he talk about it in the space? Why, Trump, why?
