Earlier today, Cointelegraph announced through their X platform account that the SEC had approved a Bitcoin ETF, news that was later confirmed to be false.

The same announcement was promptly deleted from the crypto news provider Cointelegraph's account, which, two hours ago, also published a tweet on X apologizing for the inaccurate information and announcing that there would be an internal investigation to understand what had happened.

However, due to the false news of the approval of the Bitcoin Ishares ETF by the SEC, many investors took advantage of the situation. Bitcoin briefly surged and traded well above its current value.

According to Watcher.Guru, a reputable X account, more than $65 million worth of Bitcoin was liquidated when the false news about the SEC's approval of the Bitcoin ETF surfaced in the market.

Now, using the investigation that Cointelegraph may conduct, we may gain insight into whether the news platform used the false information to pump Bitcoin and liquidate some assets or if it was simply a human error. In any case, an essential lesson remains: never fully trust news outlets and always, always verify each piece of news before sharing it.
