The Sunday woke up with a bad news coming from Africa. In South Africa 27 people were killed in a mass shooting happened in a township. It's been told that the shooting wasn't isolated and another one caused wounded victims across the country.
This isn't the first time mass shootings happen in the country but it certainly the one with more casualties in the actuality. The crime rate in South Africa is high and police is constantly in a battle field with gangsters special coming from neighborhood countries to establish their domain in the country.
According to BBC news the reason for the shootings still unknown and the police is already making diligences to arrest the culprits. In the meantime people are afraid and families devasted as people are being killed without even knowing what are the reasons behind it. In the townships mostly known as Soweto people live afraid as they don't know when a situation like this could happen.
Note that the shootings happened in two complete distinct townships and coincidence or not, injured and killed people are registered in both incidents..
The world could be witnessing this today but in South Africa high rate crime isn't something new at all. As I said above, police is in constant battle with criminals that one day are hijackers, bank robbers, organized crime, Mafia and all kind of crime happening in all parts of the rainbow nation. The most famous and known crime capital is Johannesburg, in Gaunteng, and that doesn't show levels of reduction even with the government constant investment in the security forces.
South Africa is one of the most largest economies in the world and the 1st in Africa (seconded by Nigeria) and the emigration level is high with people from all over the world coming in to the country. Think in South Africa as the US of Africa so you can imagine how many people are there.
Right now the most important is to keep the people safe as the shootings could be connected gang rivalry and that can still happen without warning in any place. South African Police must double their work and end this violence or more people are going to die. I just hope they find the culprits and send them to jail.
