Hi! Here is an update on the first event of Mexico Tech Week. It took place on October 28th, so it was really special because was the 10th anniversary of Zcash!
The session began with an introduction to Zcash, explaining what it is, how it started, mentioned the anniversary,... I explained the main features such as transparent and shielded addresses, the advantages of using shielded ones, what zk proofs are, an explanation of the different types of Zcash nodes and their respective roles. We also explored the block explorer, where participants learned how to navigate the interface, search for transactions, what the mempool is, how a shielded and a transparent transaction look like.

Following the theoretical part, we moved on to the practical part of the workshop.
Participants were guided through the process of setting up a node, using the assistance of an AI agent to make the process more accessible and easier to follow. We demonstrated how AI tools could support participants throughout the setup process, helping them understand the steps involved and interact with the ecosystem.

Additionally, we carried out several memos (transactions) to demonstrate how transactions work in practice and give participants a more direct experience of interacting with the network.
The workshop successfully combined theoretical knowledge with practical activities, allowing participants to gain a better understanding of Zcash, its ecosystem, and the role of nodes. We also opened a Q&A session, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions, share their thoughts, and clarify any doubts about the topics covered.
Attendees showed great interest and enthusiasm throughout the event, actively engaging with the activities, we also distributed Zcash branded merch such as caps, tshirts, stickers. Overall, the workshop was a positive experience, fostering engagement, knowledge sharing, and community growth.
