Ledger Support for Shielded ZEC Moves Forward
Ledger support for shielded ZEC is moving forward across the Zcash wallet ecosystem. Vizor Wallet reported successfully signing a shielded ZEC transaction using a Ledger device, demonstrating the integration working in practice.
Separately, Josh shared that Ledger provided Zodl and other wallets with a version of its Zcash app, along with instructions for sideloading it for testing while the app undergoes an audit. Zodl plans to support Ledger once that audit is complete
Zapp Introduces Zpackets for Sending ZEC by Link
Zapp introduced Zpackets, a new way to send ZEC through a shareable link, designed to make it easier to onboard someone who isn’t already set up to receive Zcash.
Normally, a new recipient first needs to download a wallet, set it up, find their address, and share it with the sender. With Zpackets, the sender can instead create a link containing ZEC and share it directly with the recipient.
Under the hood, each Zpacket uses a fresh, single-use Zcash wallet with its own Unified Address. The ZEC is sent to that wallet, and whoever holds the Zpacket link can claim the funds.
Inspired by hongbao, the traditional red envelopes given during Lunar New Year, Zpackets aims to make sharing private digital money more approachable — particularly when introducing someone to Zcash for the first time.
cbZEC Brings ZEC to Base
cbZEC is now available on Base, bringing wrapped ZEC into the Base ecosystem and giving holders access to EVM-based DeFi applications and liquidity.
Users can wrap ZEC into cbZEC and use it across supported Base applications. While the wrapping process can originate from shielded ZEC, cbZEC transactions on Base do not inherit Zcash’s shielded privacy, activity on Base remains visible on the public blockchain.

Zakura Stressnet Tests 25-Second Blocks for NU7
The Zakura team ran a new 80-node stressnet to test Zcash’s proposed move from 75-second to 25-second block spacing in NU7, with equal-hashpower miners distributed across 11 regions and every block filled with 2MB of shielded transactions.
The test measured a 3.43% orphan rate, compared with 1.57% at the current 75-second spacing. According to the team, the results support 25-second blocks under conditions more demanding than Mainnet, while also highlighting the importance of node performance improvements to reduce delays as blocks become more frequent.

ZCG committee reviewed a new round of proposals, approving funding across development, payments, policy, community initiatives, and developer events.
Approved proposals:
Constant-Time Hardening for Zcash Rust Cryptography - $10,000
ZECsy Community Building - approved through the nine-month milestones
Four proposals were declined, while another four remain open for further consideration. ZCG also discussed the future of Zaino, including its ongoing refactor, upcoming Milestone 3 review, its role in Zcash infrastructure, and whether future development provides distinct value compared with available alternatives
