Majid Kavousifar: "I reached the point at which I decided to eradicate any injustice… and I would do it again if I could"
Majid Kavousifar smiled as he was slowly publicly executed for seeking vengeance against a judge in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
After hours of interrogation, Majid and his nephew, Hossein, were charged with "spreading corruption on earth" for ending the life of an Islamist judge who had sentenced thousands of political prisoners to death over 30 years.
Shackled and slowly hoisted by the neck, Majid waved and grinned at his nephew and accomplice, Hossein, perhaps to console the frightened young man who was to be executed next.

While Iran boasts the highest per capita execution rate globally, public executions are rare and not always announced in advance.
The method of hanging employed by the Islamic regime in Iran is cruel and prolonged.
As the crane ascended, the condemned's death resulted from strangulation and the carotid reflex, lasting up to 20 minutes, causing visible pain and suffering.
Nevertheless, Majid reportedly passed quickly, barely moving or distressing, while his nephew took several minutes and trembled heavily as he was slowly strangled.
"God, please bring my son back," cried Hussein's weeping mother, trying to reach his body.
The Iranian regime's court and prosecutors also labeled these two men as bank robbers and drug dealers to justify the execution's necessity, but it's challenging to verify or believe these claims, as many political prisoners in Iran are not inclined toward violence and are intellectuals.
Following this execution in 2007, numerous executions occurred, especially after the 2022 uprising following the death of Mahsa Amini.
Although the regime largely avoided doing so publicly due to the risk of provoking the Iranian populace.
