The Center for Justice and Peace (CEPAZ) has released a report titled "10 Years of Political Persecution in Venezuela: The Consolidation of a Sophisticated System of Repression," marking its tenth anniversary. This document not only reflects the organization's journey but also exposes a systematic pattern of human rights violations in Venezuela, revealing an alarming and persistent reality of political repression.
Since its inception, CEPAZ has diligently documented and denounced human rights violations in Venezuela. Beatriz Borges, the executive director of CEPAZ, highlights that over the past decade, numerous cases of torture, arbitrary detentions, disappearances, and extrajudicial executions have been recorded. In the last three years alone, the organization has documented 2098 cases of political persecution.
The report also includes a comprehensive analysis conducted by experts from the Organization of American States (OAS) on 183 notorious cases of human rights violations in Venezuela. These experts concluded that there is a systematic pattern of abuses and that impunity in the country is facilitating the commission of crimes against humanity.
