One of those things I usually speak the most about is my fav person: My daughter, my 25-year old "beba", Andrea Stefania.

Since she was a baby girl, she's been a beautiful fatty face. At the age of 9, just after being in modeling practices for three years, as every kid, she began to gain weight, but I always watched that closely because of obesity factors on her father's side.

Despite of being fat, she's never had a big bloated stomach, 'cause she's always been restless, dynamic, a girl in action. She's caught people's eye thanks to the way she is. Strong but sensitive. Strong but emotional just like her mom (me 😄).

Remote mom: The hardest work of all.

My daugther has been living in Spain for 5 years now. Since that moment she made her mind, the plan of meeting me in Buenos Aires changed the whole pic for me. So, I became a very close remote mom. Being a supportive mom 24/7/365 in the distance has been my hardest role ever. Nevertheless, I've been there for her whenever she's needed me to all these years.

Andrea has been going for a check up for the last 3 years. In our everyday chats, she's been sending me all exams and results. Recently, I noticed on that data, one of her values were a bit higher according to the normal level references.

»» Your insulin levels are high and your blood sugar is in limit of normal range. Ask your father, anyway.

At the end, her father said all her results were okay. But, he was absolutely...

because...

Hyperinsulinism came as a diagnosis.

Due to her previous medical results, I was afraid of being facing a metabolic condition or others linked to high sugar levels; and, in fact, after about two weeks, she got news from her doctor. Something was not that good with her body causing hyperinsulinism or hyperinsulinemia.

This condition ocurrs when your body is over producing insulin.

So, again, mami bella (like she always calls me) comes to her rescue.

Sometimes you need to get your "super mom" out

Once we found out the diagnosis, I told her:

»» You need to take back Ketogenic diet before this may turn into diabetes 1 or 2.

Days went by 'till she asked me to create (and send by mail) a weekly menu based on Keto:

  • Proteins
  • Healthy fats

...with one of those bread recipes you know how to bake, mami, please.

Weekly menus and tips

When you come from an italian home, where traditions are around good confortable food, and you jump into gastronomic entrepreneurship running a restaurant, where pizza dough is the queen of your menu, you may think is kind of hard to follow a food program based on keto. It isn't if you have discipline. You just have to make a decision and start, even is not quite nice at the begining due to all your body symptoms, clear signs of you're changing from inside out.

As she had asked me to, I prepared a very detailed menu for her to prepare and preserve for a whole week.

  • Brunches
  • Second meal of the day
  • Snacks.

Beakfast/Brunch: Scrambled eggs, bacon, salted mushrooms and some avocado

High protein and healty fats mneals.

Eating is ketolicious just like this Lettuce wrapped juicy meat hamburger as a 2nd meal of the day

As shown (and as can be told from those yummy dishes), a person undergoing ketogenic diet does not restain on feeding, but provides their body with high nutrients.
