Turkey and Syria were hit with a massive earthquake in the morning of 06 February 2023.
It reached a magnitude of 7.8 and was followed by several consecutive aftershocks which caused enormous devastation.
The confirmed death toll in Turkey already exceeds 44 000 people.
In Syria, more than 6000 have been killed and hundreds of thousands more in both countries are injured and rendered homeless. Many more people remain under rubble.
Our hearts go out to the countless victims and we as a group of friends intend to try and help however we can.
We would like to start something of a movement and maybe more people from different countries would join in with what we plan to do in their own countries which is:
We are going to start buying blankets, generators, heaters, tents, sleeping bags, portable led torches(to aid the search and rescue teams efforts), canned and non perishable foods, then packing them and sending them to the affected countries.
We think everyone who is willing to help could contact their own country embassy based in Turkey or Syria and ask for an address or other suitable means to send the aid packets.
We would like this message to reach and hopefully inspire more people, but we aren't the social media types or tech savvy enough to make it spread so if someone has the means or the knowledge please do convey this idea to the best possible way so it can get to a larger audience.
Let's see if we as a community could make a change.
