There are many opinions we can give about AML/KYC, but these regulations or laws go against the origin that allowed cryptocurrencies to emerge.
The original idea of the first cryptocurrencies was to create a secure form of trade, as well as to preserve speed, efficiency, privacy and anonymity.
Over the years everything evolved, and a lot of information about cryptocurrency holders could be tracked or obtained, so more reliable projects emerged. Today, privacy cryptocurrencies (Zcash-Zec) offer us an alternative to return to the origins or to enjoy the basic principles of cryptocurrencies.
The attack of the government and organizations to cryptocurrencies.
From my point of view, trying to impose regulations or standards, is a strategy of organizations or governments to take advantage of cryptocurrencies or Blockchain technology.
The greatest desire of governments is to try to centralize cryptocurrencies, as is the case with banks, but it will be complicated, as the problem governments face is that cryptocurrencies were born to offer decentralization and there are cryptocurrencies or transactions that are totally private.
It is worth mentioning that CEXs use this type of methodologies (AML/KYC), so it is better to make use of non-custodian wallets, where the assets are stored in the Blockchain under our control, so we will avoid suffering the risk of regularization from the agency or a centralized exchange.
Conclusion.
- KYC: Although we sometimes make use of exchanges or platforms in which we perform KYC procedure, but we do not always want to give our identity to the platforms, that is why it is vital to protect our privacy or anonymity. I consider it inappropriate for organizations or governments to try to impose rules or laws, since their goal is to end our right to freedom, privacy and anonymity.
- AML: Certainly there are people who engage in money laundering, but the best way to counteract illegal money is to try to stamp out criminal acts and monitor banks, but political leaders prefer to cover the sun with a finger or divert attention.
However, there are many divided opinions or more topics to delve into, but this is my perspective, about regulations and the non-freedom they wish to impose.
